HOLIDAY FUN: Artist Joyette will return to Bathurst Regional Art Gallery next month for Pop Up Art winter school holiday workshops.

IT’S almost school holiday time again and BRAG is excited to announce the Winter School Holiday Program. We have planned six workshops across the two week break so there’s sure to be something fun and interesting for everyone.

Our first workshop Fibre Sculptures with Fiona is on Tuesday, July 4 from 1.30pm until 3.30pm. Fibre Sculptures will turn ideas of traditional sculpture on their head! In this workshop Fiona will guide participants through a range of easy techniques for creating soft 3D forms. This workshop is suitable for children who are for 6 to 17 years old.

The second workshop of the program is Soft 3D Landscapes on Wednesday,July 5 from 1.30pm until 3.30pm. BRAG is pleased to introduce a new presenter Isabel, to our school holiday education team. Join Isabel to create a 3D landscape artwork using bits and pieces lurking in the kitchen cupboard, in the garden or under the sink. Please note this workshop uses plain flour and food colouring so it may not be suitable for those who have allergies. The age group for this workshop is 8 to 17 years old.

Joyette is back these holidays and she’ll be running three workshops for us. Her first workshop Fantastical Drawing is on Thursday 6 July from 10.30am until 12.30pm. Does your child like to draw? Do you often find them doodling? Are they a big fan of detailed designs? If you answered yes to any of these questions and your child is 8 to 17 years old then this workshop is a great fit and we look forward to seeing what they can do.

Kicking off the second week of the holidays is Joyette with Weird & Wonderful Landscapes. Programmed for Tuesday, July 11 from 10.30am until 12.30pm, this workshop is sure to fill up. Participants can get ready to for a quirky morning of relief landscapes which will stretch their imaginations and clay sculpting skills. This workshop will get messy so art clothes are recommended. The age group for this workshop is 8 to 17 years old.

Our second last workshop is also with Joyette. Pop Up Art will run on Wednesday, July 12 from 1.30pm until 3.30pm for 7 to 17 year olds. Be inspired by Van Gogh’s The Starry Night and join Joyette for an afternoon of painting, set design and pop up construction techniques.

The last workshop on the program is Material Matters with Fiona. In this no-sew (no kidding!) workshop, Fiona will teach techniques that don’t require the stitching of fabric to produce fabulous fabric sculptures. This workshop will run on Thursday 13 July from 10.30am until 12.30pm.  The age group for this workshop is 6 to 17 years old.

All workshops are $10 per child. Bookings are open and can be made in person at the Gallery or we can process credit card payments over the phone. Bookings are essential as workshops do become popular quickly. Visit bit.ly/BRAGSchoolHolidayPrograms for more information.

Entry to the gallery is free. Phone 6333 6555 for information.
