On Monday, Megan opened her own boutique, DeJorja, which features a combination of both locally sourced and imported products including jewellery, bath products, handbags and homewares.
Megan said she just decided to open the business one night, a couple of months ago.
She was thinking about what she wanted to professionally and she said the idea just came to her.
“I’ve always loved homewares and decorating, and also I love affordable, comfortable clothing, and I just thought, why not do something involving both…..why not open a shop,” she said.
She said she loved the environment and being surrounded by beautiful, but also affordable things.
Affordability is a key point for Megan’s stock.
“We’re a boutique but we’re not expensive,” she said.
“I have a few things that are more upmarket but the majority of the stock is affordable for everyone.”
And having lived out west during her stint as a police officer, Megan says she will soon add online shopping to the business, enabling people living in remote areas to also access beautiful pieces.
