The Bathurst team of Ben Tullier, Jacob Bicanic, Jake Sheader and Callum Colwell were unstoppable in their campaign at Parkes, beating Dubbo Senior College eight sets to nil in the final.
Bathurst booked their spot in the Western Region finals after wins over Kelso High and Oberon High, and kept their good form going in the semi-final against Orange High.
After splitting the opening doubles with a win each, the boys secured the advantage in the single when they took out three of the four matches.
Bicanic and Sheader were able to seal the win with a dominant 6-1 victory in their reverse doubles.
“Jacob was unbeaten and a stand-out on the day, winning his singles 6-2 and teaming with Jake to win both of their doubles matches 6-1," Bathurst High School tennis coach Paul Abbott said.
The final result against Orange saw BHS finish five sets to three ahead, and also finish 35-30 ahead on games.
In the final against Dubbo College the boys were a class above.
“Jacob remained undefeated for the day and Callum played exceptionally well in his first year in the team,” Abbott said.
“Jake was able to use his big serve to close out both his singles and doubles matches and Ben showed plenty of character, fighting back to win his number one singles match in gritty fashion.”
The girls team of Sam Burrow, Sophie McCauley, Ella Davis, Felicity Hickey and Charlotte Simpson also travelled to Parkes after their wins over Kelso High and Blayney High.
In the semi-final the BHS girls went down to Cowra High School five sets to three.
The teams split the first doubles matches when Burrow and Macauley fought back to win their set 7-5.
Macauley won her singles 6-2 but Cowra got the lead when they claimed their other three singles contests.
Burrow and Macauley remained unbeaten in doubles but Cowra proved too strong in the other doubles match and held on to win.
The state finals will take place on August 9 and 10.
