Oddysea contains full-sensory opportunities for young audience members, so that all children can be transformed and touched through their theatre experiences.
Sensorium Theatre co-artistic director Michelle Hovane said the show would give audience members a chance to touch, taste and feel.
“The story is of two best friends – Crab and Turtle – who go on an epic journey from the beach to the sea,” she said.
“We’ve tested the show on kids with a whole diverse range of disabilities.
“The idea is to take them on a journey they normally wouldn’t be able to do.
“There is one moment in the play where Turtle gets eaten by a giant jellyfish because she loves eating little jellyfish and doesn’t realise this one is much bigger. We get them [the audience] to eat jelly at this point in the play.
“It’s funny, beautiful and will delight people of all ages. Bathurst is a few hours away from the beach and it’s nice to spend a day at the beach.”

Oddysea was scripted back in 2013 and Bathurst is the last stop on a nationwide tour.
Children can enjoy the performance in their own way, as long as they are safe and not a danger to anyone else.
Children will also be invited to get up and interact and guided to sit down at certain times.
They can also come in and out of the performance space as they need.
Sensorium Theatre, which is based in Western Australia, will then take the show to New York for the Big Umbrella Festival in April 2018.
From Wednesday to Friday, Oddysea will present to school students and will be on show to the public on Saturday.
Two shows will be presented on Saturday, at 10am and 12.30pm, with each show able to cater for 14 participants.
As well, BMEC is currently running a fundraiser to fund the show’s trip to Bathurst and donations can be made at online https://tinyurl.com/ln53eol. Contact BMEC at 6333 6161 for any further information or inquiries.
