“She developed Encephalitis which caused severe brain damage and has been having seizures ever since,” her mother Jeida Henry, of Blayney, said.

At the time Kaydee’s prognosis was not good. Now 11, Kaydee has been sick on and off for the past few years with rolling bouts of infections and pneumonia. 

The last six weeks have been particularly difficult for the family as Kaydee has been in Bathurst Hospital battling even more lung infections and now complications from the tubes that have been feeding her.

Currently Kaydee is in Westmead Hospital where she has undergone an operation that will allow her to be fed directly into her stomach, removing the need - and inherent risks - of feed tubes being run down her oesophagus. 

To help with the expenses involved, long term friend Tanya Wielaard has begun a Go Fund Me campaign to raise much needed funds for the family.

“They’re fabulous and generous people that have never asked for anything, have always worked in the local community and have two other small children that they have to look after,” she said.

“Because Kaydee has been so sick they have no holiday pay, no sick leave or anything left that they can use.”
