A SECTION of one of Bathurst’s CBD streets will be closed for a month from Sunday for the construction of the McDonald’s Bathurst Ice Rink.

Russell Street will be closed to traffic between George and William streets from Sunday, June 25 to Friday, July 21.
Temporary “no parking” signs will also be in place along Russell Street from 4pm on Saturday, June 24.
And the Russell Street taxi rank will be temporarily moved to George Street, between Church and Russell streets, for the duration of the road closure.
Pedestrian access will remain available to the civic centre, Bathurst Court House, Mitchell Conservatorium and Bathurst and District Historical Society building throughout this period.
Authorised vehicle access will be co-ordinated by the event manager as needed.
Bathurst Regional Council has written to businesses in the area advising of the changes as it prepares for the start of the Bathurst Winter Festival next weekend.
Highlights of this year’s festival will be the return of the ice rink on Russell Street, illumination on local historic buildings, a ferris wheel and two-storey carousel that will all be in operation each day of the festival from July 1-16.
