The third annual festival kicks off on Saturday and the two storey carousel, the only one of its kind in Australia, will take centre stage.
Royal Double Decker Carousel spokesperson Danielle Sutherland said it takes a team of workers two days to put up the huge structure.
It arrived in the back of two semi-trailers on Monday and will sit outside council chambers during the 16-day festival.
Riders can choose to sit on a horse or swing seat in the upstairs level of the carousel, or on ground level on a horse, teacup or gondola.
“This is the first time it’s been at a show outside the capitals,” Ms Sutherland said. “This will be the start of it being on the road for the next two to three months.
“It’s our pride and joy and it’s a timeless classic.”
Rides cost $5 per person.
Bathurst Winter Festival will take place in and around Kings Parade with last year’s hugely-popular ice rink and carousel to make a return.
