The 16-day Bathurst Winter Festival kicks off on Saturday with an ice rink, ferris wheel, carousel and nightly illuminations taking centre stage.
There will also be two festival street parties – the first is Ignite the Night on from 5-9pm this Saturday, followed by Brew and Bite on July 8.
Last year’s street parties attracted huge crowds with an estimated 22,000 people across the two nights.
I’m hoping to have around about 12,000 people here.
- Bathurst Regional Council deputy mayor Michael Coote
Bathurst Regional Council deputy mayor Michael Coote said this year will be “bigger and better” and he expects it to be just as well attended.
“I’m hoping to have around about 12,000 people here tomorrow [Saturday] night, that’s a bold prediction, we had over 10 [thousand] last year,” he said.
Ignite the Night will feature stalls selling food, wine, craft beer and mulled wine, along with free entertainment, roving performers and children’s activities.
