Given the honour of captaining the squad, Bathurst all-rounder Peacock headed to England with the intent of leading his team to victory in each of its games.
Though he was not able to find the win he was looking for in the opener against MCC at the Brondesbury Cricket Club, Peacock’s batting heroics certainly gave his side a shot.
Batting first MCC reached 6-322 off its 50 overs, leaving NSW CHS needing more than a run-a-ball for victory.
Peacock arrived at the crease on the third ball of the 19th over, at which time the visitors were 3-78.
In the 41 minutes that followed he unleashed, cracking two sixes and 14 boundaries. Peacock finally fell for 72 off just 43 deliveries.
He then watched a tight finish, NSW CHS falling six runs short.
