Ms Keen will work on a documentary verbatim play on the US Supreme Court challenge of Don't Ask Don't Tell and an adaptation of the final unfinished work of late Australian playwright Steve J Spears.
“I’m excited to soak up the atmosphere that inspired Ernest Hemingway and Tennessee Williams,” Ms Keen said.
Ms Keen was also just awarded her PhD in Drama and Creative Writing from Flinders University.
Real stories
WE’RE pretty familiar with verbatim theatre in Bathurst (Colette F Keen’s two plays, mentioned above, being good examples), but how about headphone verbatim theatre?
In Hello Goodbye & Happy Birthday real stories – in this case about birthdays and milestones in life – are played to the actors through headphones, who then perform the dialogue.
See it at Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre on Saturday, July 22 at 8pm and Monday, July 24 at 11am.
