THERE’S no time like the present to start preparing for the Edgell Jog, according to organising committee member Jim Hallahan.

Though the frosts are still biting in Bathurst as winter rolls on, Mr Hallahan wants the city’s runners, joggers and walkers to remember that the Edgell Jog is now less than two months away.
“Last year’s event was marred by rain, but still attracted around 1200 participants who enjoyed the day,” Mr Hallahan said.
“We understand this is only the second time it has rained on jog day.”
This year’s Edgell Jog will start at 10.30am on Sunday, September 17 from in front of the Bathurst Court House.
“The jog relies on volunteers to help in the running on the day and continues to get that support,” Mr Hallahan said.
“Local businesses are very supportive of the jog and without their support the jog would not survive.”
Entry forms are now available from Cityfit, Panorama Cruise and Travel, SportsPower, Sportsmans Warehouse, 2BS, Bathurst Visitors Centre, Bathurst Regional Council or online at bathurstedgelljog.org.au
“Enter early to be in the draw for the prize of $300 provided by Breakfree Accounting and Taxation,” Mr Hallahan said.
“The major draw prize for anyone who completes the course in less than 90 minutes is a Fiji holiday for two sponsored by Panorama Cruise and Travel and the Bathurst Edgell Jog committee.”
The walking section is sponsored by Cityfit and a prize is being offered for those registering in this section of 12 months of Cityfit membership.
“The City girls will be at the start to get everyone warmed up and ready for a personal best,” Mr Hallahan said.
“Other draw prizes include two pushbikes from Belly’s Bikes and a 49 inch television from Bathurst Betta Home Living.”
Mr Hallahan said a lot of attention will be given to one of the local runners.
“All eyes will be on Brandon Martin, who took out second place last year and was the first Bathurst runner home, to see if he can make it one better and take out the major prizemoney,” he said.
He said all participants are fitted with a timing shoe tag, “so your time does not start until you cross the starting line”.
“Start your training now to be in this iconic Bathurst event,” he said.
