The overnight vandalism attack occurred on Wednesday evening.
The resident, who asked not to be named, said the letterbox was “smashed to pieces” and the metal pole that held it up was broken where it was sunk into its cement base.
“It cost a few hundred dollars and it was just lovely,” she said.
Chifley Local Area Command Duty Officer Inspector Gerard Powell said crimes such as this can be reported by calling Bathurst Police Station on 6332 8699 or the Police Assistance Line on 131 444.
“We would recommend that any issue is reported. We’d prefer things are reported so we’re aware of what’s happening,” he said.
