Following a day where the temperature did not break double figures and arctic winds made it seem colder still on Thursday, the Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting an overnight low of -5 tonight.
Friday is tipped to be sunny with a top of 14 before the temperature plunges overnight to -7, followed by a forecast -4 on Sunday morning.
If those forecasts are correct, Bathurst will have recorded 16 subzero mornings out of 23 for July – bitterly cold temperatures even by Bathurst standards.
Light sleeting rain on Wednesday and Thursday barely made an impact on the region’s gauges, taking the monthly total to just 4.4mm.
The bureau is not forecasting any more rain until Monday at the earliest.
