THEY might be frustrated, but Western NSW Mariners FC skipper Adam Scimone and his team-mates are also determined to find more wins this National Premier Leagues 3 season.

After 19 rounds the Mariners only have three wins, but that record could be much better had the Western outfit had some better luck.
Last Saturday’s game against Hawkesbury is a good case in point. Heading into the final minutes the Mariners led 2-1 against the much higher ranked opponent, but a set play from a free kick produced an equaliser.
“It was pretty disappointing because we deserved to win that. It’s good not to lose of course, but unfortunately a win would have helped in many ways,” Scimone said, referencing both first grade’s 13th position on the ladder and that the win would have Mariners two spots higher in the club championship.
“Our 20s won and we were on our way to a win as well. It hurts when you get robbed like that at the death like that.
“We did get something out of it, but we deserved all three [points].”
This Saturday night the Mariners will once more be underdogs when hosting seventh placed Gladesville Ryde Magic at Proctor Park.
When the pair met earlier this season Gladesville emerged as 1-0 victors, with the physical contest seeing five yellow cards and one red produced.
While Mariners will take confidence from last weekend’s effort, Magic heads into Saturday’s match on the back of its first loss in over two months. Still, that 2-0 defeat did come at the hands of minor premiership hopefuls Fraser Park.
“It is frustrating when you are the dominant side, score early then score again. But I think confidence wise it is good and hopefully we can take it up to Gladesville,” Scimone said.
“They’ve been going well and are well above us, but hopefully we can do the same as we did against Hawkesbury.
“We need to take something out of this moving forward, hopefully we can get a well deserved win – it has been too long.
“It will come, we’ve just got to keep moving forward.”
The round 20 match will kick off at 7pm at Proctor Park on Saturday.
