The Bathurst golfer will do so as one as a host of hopefuls in the Senior Open Championship, an event which boasts a rich history.
Though O’Malley made his presence felt in past years when competing in the European Tour’s Open Championship – placing seventh in 1997 and eighth in 2002 – the senior version of the tournament has been less kind.
Last year at the Senior Open Championships O’Malley missed the cut, while he was tied 31st in 2015 on debut. He will be keen to improve on that record when this year’s edition tees off on July 26.
Fortunately, form looks to be on his side.
Over the last month he has placed tied ninth in the European Tour Senior Classic, tied 16th in the Swiss Senior Open and most recently, tied 14th at the WINSTONgolf Senior Open in Germany.
