Saints scored twice either side of half-time in a strong performance at Lithgow.
Pat’s began on the front foot and despite not going rewarded at first for a strong start they eventually broke through.
Darcy Davis opened the scoring from a penalty corner around 20 minutes into the match to give the visitors the ascendancy.
The blue and white doubled their lead before the break when Justin Mellor was on hand to hit home a blocked penalty corner flick.
Pat’s continued to lock Zig Zag out of the contest in the second half thanks to their strong defence.
The visitors were still busy inflicting pain at the other end of the field as well.
When Charlie Schofield found the third goal for Pat’s it put Zig Zag out of the contest.
The fourth Pat’s goal of the day, scored by Blake Davis, completed a perfect trip for the Bathurst club.
Pat’s coach Shane Conroy said his side never deviated from the plan.
“We stuck to our structure and I said to the guys after the game that it was a great effort to keep them to zero. I don’t we’ve managed to do that to many teams this year. It’s nice to come away with four goals as well,” he said.
“We started the match really well, which is something we’ve been missing over the last couple of weeks.
“We controlled the tempo of the game, the only problem was that we didn’t convert on that until after 15 minutes into the game, but in saying that we always kept the pressure on.”
With two goals from penalty corners and two from the field Conroy was pleased to see his team show their full capability in attack.
“We haven’t been scoring a lot from penalty corners so that’s something that we’ve been focusing on at training,” he said.
“We’ve also worked really hard on our defensive structure, and that showed in us keeping them to zero. Zig Zag probably only had two or three genuine chances … and that was because we were getting those one percent things right.
“With a couple of our experienced guys out this week it made it an even better result for us.”
With two rounds to go the men’s Premier League Hockey finalists have already been decided – Pat’s, Lithgow Panthers, Souths and Zig Zag – although the finishing order has not yet been determined.
