Moorbel Betty ($5.50) led from start to finish in heat one of the Bathurst RSL Club Stakes (450m) to beat home Spring Nitro ($11.90) and Heza Fusion ($13.10).
The battle for the early lead was short lived as Moorbel Betty got clear comfortably out of box four.
The scramble for second in the running wasn’t so clean. Box three starter Nothing Yet began with promise but was shunted out the back of the field.
Inside starter Spring Nitro emerged unscathed from the scuffle to give chase to the leader, but by the back straight the margin had already gone out to four lengths.
Race favourites Gotta Be Mac ($3.20) and Dana Kis ($4.30) got caught caught up in the tangle at the start, and their winning hopes were dashed early.
Spring Nitro slowly ate into the margin but Moorbel Betty had built up too much of an early lead to be caught.
The winning time was 26.05 seconds.
It’s the second win in three starts for the Brian Thornhill-trained bitch.
The Canowindra trainer said his runner has enjoyed a pleasing run of form.
“She jumped really good, got to the front and kept herself out of trouble,” he said.
“She’s had eight wins now. She ran second at Canberra last week and the fortnight before that she won here.
“We might try and eventually get her a run at Wentworth Park.”
