Carpenter, who has seven senior international caps, flew out to the United States last week as part of the 21-player Matildas squad which will compete at the tournament.
Though defender Carpenter impressed earlier this month for the Young Matildas as they played friendlies against the USA and Canada, the Tournament of Nations will provide a much tougher challenge.
Carpenter and her fellow Matildas will face world number one ranked USA in their tournament opener on Friday (AEST), before squaring off with World Cup finalists Japan and Brazil.
“It gives us a chance to look at things we are doing well and things we need to improve on to become a dominant force at the 2018 Women’s Asian Cup,” Matildas coach Alen Stajcic said.
