This democratic showing and selling of work always attracts a high standard and is an important fundraiser for BRAGS, the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery Society, who in turn purchase new works for the gallery’s permanent collection.
The 2017 Bathurst Art Fair runs from September 28 to October 2.
Artists from the Bathurst Regional Council district and surrounding areas including the Blue Mountains, Lithgow, Oberon, Blayney, Cowra, Orange and Mudgee are invited to participate.
They’re looking for works in all media including painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking and ceramics.
Entry forms from the gallery or www.bathurstart.com.au BRAG will close at the end of this weekend for a two-month renovation, reopening for the Art Fair.
Cowra art fair
MEANWHILE, the Cowra Art Group is calling for entries to their biennial art exhibition, held October 14-29 this year at Cowra Regional Art Gallery.
Entries are limited to artists within a 100km direct line from Cowra, which includes Bathurst.

Ashfield stint
HILL End artist Genevieve Carroll has almost finished an artist residency at Thirning Villa in Ashfield, Sydney.
“I have loved it for so many reasons,” Ms Carroll said.
“First, I didn’t have to clean up to make way for the breakfast bowls; second, time was irrelevant, and; third, my painting smock can now almost stand on its own and echoed my mum’s voice when I was young: ‘Genevieve you’ve come home dirty, you must have had a great day!’.”
Ms Carroll will celebrate with a one-afternoon exhibition of her new work at Thirning Villa, 40 Arthur Street, Ashfield this Sunday, July 30 from 2pm-4pm.
Musical chance
THE Inland Sea of Sound Festival will be held from November 3-4 on top of Mount Panorama-Wahluu.
The call is out for local musicians to join the line-up for the opportunity to perform on the same bill as some seasoned professionals.
Expressions of interest are due August 14.
Go to inlandseaofsound.com.au/registration.
The main line-up (and it’s a very exciting one) will be announced soon.
