Bathurst is fielding a team in the Over 50s division one competition at the Half State Championships in Grafton, which commences on Friday.
They will do battle with teams from Manning Valley, Nepean, host city Grafton, Far North Coast and Hunter, playing on both grass and turf fields.
If the Sue Watterson coached Bathurst outfit does well enough in those games, it will earn a place in Sunday’s grand final.
Amongst the players on the Bathurst team is one of the association’s most experienced masters in Liz Smith.
She has been playing masters hockey since the championship was held at Tamworth in 1984.
Over the 32 years since she has only twice missed the annual titles, while she has not only been a player, but vocal supporter and manager.
Smith is one of six Bathurst players who will receive Hockey NSW Masters age jumpers at the titles.
