FRIDAY is the last official day on the job for Bathurst’s long-serving corporate services and finance director Bob Roach, who becomes the third senior council staffer to leave in just two years.

Mr Roach – along with general manager David Sherley and former environmental planning and building services director David Shaw – was one of the “gang of three” who ran Bathurst Regional Council for many years.
Mr Shaw resigned in July 2015 while former director of engineering Doug Patterson left council in January.
Uncertainty over council’s future during the amalgamation debate meant both those positions remained vacant for longer than would usually be the case, though council finally advertised in May to fill them.
Darren Sturgiss has been confirmed as the new director of engineering but the planning role has now been re-advertised alongside the corporate services vacancy.
Local Government Management Solutions has been engaged to run the recruitment process and applications for both roles close at 5pm on Monday.

Council’s fifth senior staff member - cultural and community services director Alan Cattermole – has been in the role since February 2015.
