The weekly event has attracted almost 1700 different participants over the past year who have together run a combined 43,650 kilometres.
It has an average of 171 runners each week, but at its biggest event there were 282 participants.
Coordinator Jennifer Arnold said parkrun has a lot of regular participants, but it often attracts new people.
“Even the very cold week last week, we had 88 runners and three were first-timers,” she said.
“Every week we are seeing people giving parkrun a go for the first time.”
Those who participate in parkrun range from young children, right up to people over the age of 80.
Younger participants who do 10 runs receive certificates for their efforts.
Ms Arnold said the feedback has been great from regular parkrun patrons, which often include visitors to the city.
“They have been having a really great time. A lot of runners have been talking about the sense of community that comes from parkrun,” she said.
The one year anniversary of parkrun will be celebrated on Saturday from 7.40am with cake and a Christmas in July dress-up theme.
Ms Arnold said new participants are invited to join the event and should register online at www.parkrun.com.au/bathurst.
Participants need to bring their barcodes to each event.
