Cowra Magpies are making their second trip to Bathurst in as many weekends and the Panthers will be hoping they leave the city empty handed again.
Magpies may be down on firepower lately but with their spot in the finals on the line Panthers’ Doug Hewitt still expects a good test.
“I know that Cowra have a few injuries at the moment, and they’ve had to forfeit their reserve grade game,” he said.
“It’s good that we have a tough run of games at the end of the season though. That’s going to prepare us for finals.”
Panthers currently boast an 11-game unbeaten run and will hope their momentum hasn’t been disrupted by the bye.
Hewitt is confident the Panthers men can get their rhythm back after the week off.
“It actually wasn’t the best timing with the bye because we had only had a break two weeks before that,” he said.
“At least everyone will be fresh for this game … and we’ll have Jeremy Gordon back for this game, which is massive for us.
“Our last training session was probably the best one we’ve had in a while. You can tell everyone’s working hard for the finals.”
Panthers will swap their black strip for pink this weekend to celebrate ladies day and support the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Premier league kick-off has been forward to 1.30pm at Carrington Park.
