Bathurst RSL is a finalist in the arts and culture and education categories of the 2017 ClubsNSW Clubs and Community Awards for its support for Evans Arts Council and Kelso High’s Cirkus Surreal, respectively.
The club is also a finalist (with Ron Hollebone) in the Heart of the Community category, which recognises individuals and clubs working together to improve their community.
Bathurst RSL Club president Ian Miller and general manager Peter Sargent said it was an honour to be recognised.
“We’re particularly proud of the support we’ve been able to provide to the Cirkus Surreal program at Kelso High School, and also of the support we’ve been able to offer to local artists through our collaboration with the Evans Arts Council, resulting in their annual exhibition in the club,” Mr Sargent said.
“It is also great to see Ron Hollebone recognised for his many years of service to clubs and the community. Ron exemplifies the type of person who has given so much of his time to being involved in the clubs movement, not to mention his charity work.”
The awards ceremony will be held in October at Darling Harbour.
