Allegri Singers’ Rob Berry said performances of Messiah have become a regular feature of Bathurst’s classical music scene.
“Allegri Singers will be pleased to hear from any choristers interested in joining them for these performances,” he said.
“Rehearsals will be held at the Mitchell Conservatorium, Russell Street, Bathurst, at 7pm each Tuesday of school term time, commencing on August 22.”
Performances of Messiah will be held at All Saints’ Cathedral in Bathurst and the Prince of Wales Opera Theatre in Gulgong on November 11 and 12.
William Moxey will conduct a large combined choir for the performance, which will include the Allegri Singers, Willoughby Singers, Mudgee-based Cudgegong Choir and members of the All Saints’ Cathedral choir.
“Total choral voice-power is expected to be around 100 voices - sufficient to rattle the rafters, if not raise the roof,” Mr Berry said.
“The performances will also feature fine vocal soloists from within and beyond our region. The Bathurst Chamber Orchestra will accompany the choirs.”
Prospective choristers must be available for the performance dates, and be able to attend most rehearsals.
A $50 fee ($40 concession, $20 for under 25 years) will cover rehearsal expenses, and the vocal score will be provided.

Times for the Messiah performances are to be confirmed.
