O’Malley grabbed headlines in 1992 when he went seven under through the last five holes to snatch victory at the Scottish Open, the win one of three he recorded on the European Tour.
This week 52-year-old O’Malley will contest the Scottish Senior Open at The Renaissance Club, an event in which he placed tied 39th last year and tied 35th in 2015.
He will be looking to improve after missing the cut at the Senior Open Championship at Royal Porthcawl over the weekend.
Though O’Malley went into the Senior Open Championship in good touch – his worst finish in three prior tournaments on the over 50s tour being a tied 16th - he was unable to make an impact.
Over the two days in at times testing weather conditions, he carded 11 bogeys and a pair of double bogeys.
His rounds of 78 and 79 saw him at 15 over the card and miss the cut at tied 94th.
