With four rounds of the competition remaining, Western sits in fifth place, six points behind University of NSW.
It is that gap Western must make up in order to force its way into the top four and keep its title hopes alive.
Though Western has not managed to string together more than three consecutive wins so far in 2017, if the Jason Payne coached outfit can make it four on the trot, it will finish fourth.
The bid to do just that begin on Sunday against Parramatta at Proctor Park, a match in which the hosts will start as hot favourites.
In the two prior meetings between the pair this season, Western has posted commanding 8-0 and 16-0 scorelines. In contrast the struggling Parramatta outfit has found the back of the net just three times in 14 outings.
Sunday’s match at Proctor Park will kick-off at 3pm.
