Forget winter, an early taste of spring is on the way

REMEMBER Bathurst shivering through the coldest night on record three weeks ago?

That was so last month.

Bathurst is emerging from one of the coldest winters on record with a run of above-average temperatures over the next week.

The mercury will start climbing on Sunday with a forecast top of 17 degrees Celsius, 5.2 degrees above the long-term average August maximum of 13.8 degrees.

It will be even warmer on Monday with a forecast top of 19 before an anticipated maximum of 22 on Tuesday is forecast to provide an early taste of spring.

There is a chance of showers next Tuesday and Wednesday.

The highest August maximum on record for Bathurst Airport is 23.6 degrees Celsius on August 21, 1995.
