It was Craig Culpan who took the honours ahead of Andrew Trevillion as Bathurst Archers’ staged its first club championship in 10 years.
“It was pretty close, in the open men’s there was only five points between first and second and third [Daniel McNamara] was 20 points behind them,” Bathurst Archers president Steve Olive said.
“They shot 12 ends of six arrows, so that’s 72 arrows. The maximum score was 720 and Craig won the open men’s with a score of 626, so that’s reasonably good.”
Plenty of work had been put in by the club to see the club championships return to the calendar, so Olive was delighted to have 22 archers take part in Sunday’s competition.
Annemarie Scorgie shot 589 to win the open women’s club championship ahead of Lynnette Vidler.
Reshia Winfield won the cub girls title, while Grayson Cross was crowned the cub boys champion with Anthony Scorgie runner-up.
In the junior boys division, Kane Simmons won ahead of Jack Sadler.
For those keen to get involved with the sport, Bathurst Archers holds beginners classes at its Boundary Road range every Saturday and Sunday from 10am-noon at a cost of $10.
Equipment will be provided, but people are asked to wear enclosed shoes.
