The subject was raised at the Greening Bathurst forum on Tuesday night.
Current councillor Ian North used the time allocated to his ticket to discuss how important it was for councillors to work together to achieve the best results for the city.
“When you become a councillor, you’ve got eight other councillors with you,” he said
“The plans that you want moving forward, you’ve got to work together as a group.”
He also said it was important that councillors look at issues objectively and make an informed decision after hearing both sides of the story.
“If you’re going to do your job as a councillor, you’ve got two eyes, you’ve got two ears and one mouth; listen to both sides of the story, look at both sides of the story and make a decision,” Cr North said.
“You cannot make a decision on anything in life without knowing all the facts.
“We’ve got to do the little things right and that is something I’ve been barking on for a long time.”
Many of the candidates nodded along as Cr North made these points.
You’ve got to work together as a group.
