With a spirited performance against Panthers WWL in their final game of the season Nova got what they were searching for.
The girls in green were too strong from the outset as they ran away 50-29 winners over Panthers.
Nova’s only win prior to Saturday’s match was via a forfeit from the Panthers Mustangs, who exited the competition the following round.
On Saturday Nova got their chance to celebrate victory, but this time with the full-time siren sounding around them.
Nova got very close to taking down the Panthers WWL squad back in round six, but their opponents got away 51-41 winners.
This time around there was no doubting who was in control of proceedings.
The closest Nova had come to besting another side in the A grade season was a four point loss to Mana Wasps.
The win takes Nova within a single point of Panthers WWL on the ladder but the Pursuit won’t get the chance to jump above, sitting out next week’s final round with the bye.
Panthers WWL will finish their season off with a tough meeting against club mates Panthers A.
Panthers A took themselves to the top of the Bathurst Netball Association A grade competition thanks to their 62-36 win over the LJ Hooker Hawks.
With competition leaders Collegians Mystified sitting Saturday’s round out thanks to the bye, Panthers A had the chance to take first place away.
Panthers A showed their class to once again best the Hawks this year.
Bulldogs Verdelho took themselves into second place with their 47-29 win over Mana Wasps.
The loss for Wasps has taken them out of the finals race and ensured the Hawks will finish the regular season in fourth.
Bulldogs have the edge over Collegians based on percentage, but that counts for little since the two clubs will meet next week to decide who takes a major semi-final spot.
Bulldogs will carry the mental edge into next week’s meeting having won the previous battle between the front running clubs.
In next weekend’s remaining game Hawks will face Wasps.
That game promises to be a cracker after little could separate the clubs last time they came together, resulting in a Hawks win.
