After a strong showing in the regular season, Bushrangers had their fingers crossed it would be Rebels versus Outlaws come grand final day.
But for the second year running, the preliminary final will be a fight between Rebels and Outlaws.
“We’d obviously prefer to do it in the grand final, but it is what it is. Obviously we want a shot at the grand final, so I guess we are going to have to inflict a bit more pain on them unfortunately,” Outlaws co-coach Matt Archer said after Rebels lost the major semi-final and his side won the minor-semi.
“It’s going to be a hard build-up, but once we’re out there both teams are going to want to win and represent themselves in the grand final.
“Once we’re out there all bets are off and it’s just a game of football. As soon as the game finishes, it will be back to a club focus and supporting each other.”
