The theme for Book Week this year is Escape To Everywhere, providing students (and their poor parents) with ample scope for interpretation.
There will no doubt be plenty of late-night last-minute finishing touches to get the costume just right, but it’s always well worth the effort.
Parade recalls Book Week being one of the real annual highlights when he was at school (many) years ago, and it appears nothing has changed.
There is still a real excitement among the kids about the chance to dress up for the day and many local school librarians go above and beyond to ensure their students have a great day while gaining an appreciation for reading.
With so many great photo opportunities available, the Western Advocate would love to see schools’ pictures from the day.
We’re planning an online gallery of Book Week photos on the Western Advocate website so please feel free to email in your contributions to photos.westernadvocate@fairfaxmedia.com.au.
Please include the name of the school and the name of the students pictured in the photograph.
Hear, hear for free testing
GOOD hearing can be one of those things you never really appreciate until it’s gone.
And because hearing loss tends to be a gradual process over many years, people often don’t realise just how advanced their hearing problems might be.
With that in mind, the Central West Women’s Health Centre will be hosting free hearing checks when Australian Hearing visits next month.
It’s a quick and easy test that will give you real feedback on your hearing.
Australian Hearing will be at the centre from 9.30am-12.30pm on Monday, September 18.
Book through the reception at Central West Women’s Health Centre or phone them on 6331 4133.
