A man has been charged over the alleged aggravated sexual assault of a young girl near Bathurst.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse Squad recently launched an investigation following reports a man sexually assaulted a four-year-old girl he was babysitting in 2009.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 66-year-old man at a home unit at Bathurst about 11.15am on Monday.
The man was taken to Bathurst police station and charged with aggravated sexual assault, victim under 16.
He was refused bail and appeared at Bathurst Local Court on Monday where he was granted strict conditional bail to reappear on Monday, September 18.
Inquiries are continuing.
The Child Abuse Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate crimes against children, including sexual assault, physical abuse and serious cases of neglect.
