I’m so glad my small person asked to be an owl, not the Gruffalo.
What’s a Gruffalo? “A Gruffalo. Why, didn’t you know”… you can meet him for yourself this week at Bathurst Library with sessions today at 3.45pm, tomorrow at 11am and 3.45pm and again Friday also at 11am and 3.45pm.
There’s great stuff for kids happening at the library all the time, like the weekly half-hour New Kids On The Book for zero to two-year-olds on Wednesdays at 10.30am.
Wednesdays are great for small kids. There’s also the wonderful Fun Theatre For The Very Young every Wednesday from 11.30am-noon at the CWA Hall. It costs $5 for children and is free for adults and small babies.
Space does rock
THE exhibition at the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum of Ray Pickard’s meteorite collection and extraordinary astrophotography from the Bathurst Observatory is well worth a look (it’s on from now through to December).
The meteorites included in the exhibition range from small fragments right up to a 61-kilogram meteorite found in Argentina. Most of the meteorites on display are around 4.6 million years old.
The pictures are amazing and include the prettiest galaxies, nebulas, comets, star clusters and the like.
