Introduction: My name is John Anthony Fry I was born in Bathurst and lived here all my life except for several job contracts in Sydney. I want to contribute to better and fairer decision making on council. We can have capital city benefits without losing our country lifestyle. My experience is in delivering large contracts in engineering, planning, housing, Landcare, disadvantaged people and managing businesses on time and within budgets. I have a proven record working of effectively working with all political parties and levels of government to create local jobs without damaging our heritage, culture and environment.

Popularly-elected mayor: I might support a popularly elected Mayor if there are guarantees that the all candidates had the same access to the media and publicity.
Water sale: I do not support the sale of Bathurst water to another catchment. Climate change is real and we need to prepare for it now. Water is our most critical asset.
Roundabout: I support the Mitre St roundabout if funding is available.
Australia Day: Australia day is important to all residents and the date could change to when the government announces the Republic after a referendum . January 26 will always be first fleet day.
TAFE building: The old Tafe building should be for community and business use but needs to part of a new plan for the town square from Russell St to howick St and all day car parks on the edge of the Cbd.
Rates cap: I do not support a rate rise unless it is to develop renewable energy which will save money for all residents.
Christmas decorations: Christmas decorations should create local jobs and capped at an agreed amount.
CCTV: CCTV cameras should be low cost and with tight privacy controls.
Demolition by neglect: Our heritage street scapes and buildings should be preserved within sustainable development projects.
Attendance: I have not attended any council meetings in the last 12 months but I am working with many community groups that advise council on a broad range of issues.ld incorporate a mix of public space, office space, residential apartments or retail. It is too good an opportunity to just leave sit there.
Rates cap: I am conscious that many in our community struggle with increasing rate rises. I would not support rises above the IPART cap.
Christmas decorations: I would be supportive of any initiative that creates interest and increased revenue for our small business and retail sector during the Christmas period. This would create an opportunity to promote local business and attract people to Bathurst over this period.
CCTV: I’m supportive in principle however I would need to see what the cost of this is and how it could be incorporated into the budget.
Demolition by neglect: Council needs to work with property owners to combat neglect of heritage buildings. I don’t believe that punitive measures would be useful.
