Participants for the biannual bus to the Chatswood Skin Cancer Clinic are urged to book in to reserve their seat. The one-day trip to Sydney is scheduled for Wednesday, October 25, with the bus departing from the rear of McDonald's Bathurst at 6.30am. Local author Alexandria Nagy will be in Bathurst Library at 6pm to discuss her debut novel based on a true story. The Could Be Ring is the story of a boxer overcoming personal demons at the peak of his career. With romance, violence and themes of personal struggle, it's a story not to be missed.

Perthville Village Fair will be held at the Perthville Community Hall from 9am to 3pm. There will be a barbecue, food stalls, tea and coffee, ice-creams, clothes for children, crafts, local honey, wine tombola, patchwork, bric-a-brac, art and more.

Works of art from World War One satirical cartoonist Hal Eyre will be on display at the Bathurst Library from September 9-21. The exhibition has been drawn from the State Library of NSW collection and has a local relevance. Hal Eyre was born in Sofala and later educated in Forbes and Bathurst. His cartoons were in high demand during the war and he was later employed as a regular cartoonist for The Daily Telegraph newspaper.
