With the weather warming now is the perfect time to get your house clean and organised.
Many items don’t need cleaning on a weekly basis but they should be cleaned regularly. Some items can be left for the yearly spring clean while others should be done monthly or quarterly.
Follow this quick guide to deep cleaning to make sure you're cleaning at the right times:
The oven: Chip of any loose pieces from the top then spray with your product of choice. Sprinkle baking soda on the bottom then add a few drops of vinegar, let it bubble then wipe off.
Washing machine: At least every six months. There are cleaning products on the market or a mix of distilled white vinegar and baking soda can be used.
Fridge: You should wipe down shelves and draws weekly. Each month you should pull out all shelves and drawers to be cleaned thoroughly.
Dishwasher: Make sure you keep your dishwasher clean by cleaning the filter, removing any food from the bottom and running specialised cleaner through at least once a month.

Mattress: “You spend about a third of your life in bed,” Steve Dury from Elite Carpet Dry Cleaning said. “So, people should have their mattresses freshened up and cleaned annually.”
Call in the professionals to ensure your mattress is properly sanitized.
Blankets, Doonas: There’s no point cleaning your mattress if your bedding materials are not clean and fresh. Don’t struggle with bulky bedding material in the washing machine – take them to the drycleaner.
Carpets and Lounges: With general wear and tear, carpets should be cleaned annually. And, how long has it been since you cleaned your lounge?
“With professional cleaning you get a deeper clean than just vacuuming – it removes more embedded dirt,” Steve said.
“Spring is the perfect time to have your carpets and lounges cleaned because the warmer weather reduces drying time. And, most fabric lounges and most leather lounges respond really well to the cleaning processes.”
Windows and screens: At least twice a year or as needed. This is one of the trickiest jobs to do properly – streaky windows completely detract from what you set out to achieve.
“Springtime is when people open up their houses again and begin to entertain,” Jamie Bowie from Bowie’s Window Cleaning said. “And you want to be able to look out your windows and enjoy the light and the view.
“Professional window cleaners have the latest equipment and eco-friendly chemicals to get windows sparkling. And we know the perfect technique needed to get a streak-free result – and it is a lot more affordable than people think.”
