As part of the GWS Giants’ ambassador program, Sloan has formed an association with the star midfielder this year.
The under 12 Bathurst Giants talent, who represented Central West AFL and the Western PSSA sides this season, gets recognition on game day when Whitfield does something impressive.
“Each time his player – Lachie Whitfield – is mentioned, it comes up with Will Sloan on the big screen as well which is really cool,” Bathurst Giants Auskick coach Ashley Boylan explained.
“It’s always a good thing for the kids when it goes up there, it’s an extra accolade. It’s good for him and great for the club.
“All the players with the GWS Giants have a link with a club or player from regional New South Wales and I think it shows that there is that genuine pathway.”
