Hosted by Bathurst Rural Fire Brigade, with the assistance of the city’s other emergency services, the event has been hailed a huge success.
NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) community engagement officer Shane Thomas said the focus of the day was very much on the community.
“We spoke to a lot of local property owners to get them to prepare their properties for the bushfire season,” he said.
Mr Thomas said a highlight of the day was a visit by the NSW RFS water-bombing helicopter which landed in the park in the morning and stayed for a number of hours.
Bathurst’s police, paramedics, Fire and Rescue NSW, State Emergency Service and St Johns Ambulance also had crews attend on the day.
The estimated 400 people who attended had the chance to meet emergency service personnel and check out the equipment they use.
