The Bathurst community got its first taste of the Yamato, the Drummers of Japan, at the Bathurst City Centre on Wednesday afternoon, ahead of its one-off show at Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre on Thursday night.

Eight drummers treated the audience to a snippet of what will be in Thursday night’s show and drummer Gen Hidaka said he is looking forward to it.
“It’s the first time we’ve come to Bathurst, so we are very much excited,” he said.
“This is why we have come to the shopping centre, so we can meet the people of Bathurst.
“We drove from Sutherland this [Wednesday] morning and we have done nine shows so far.
“For the show, we will bring lots of drums, even one that is 500 kilograms, and lots of energy will you will be able to hear with your body.”
