Multiple under 19s national champion and Australian Cycling high performance rider Cameron Scott will make his return to the event after he brother Lachlan took out the men’s invitational madison last year.
Stephen Cuff, who won silver in the World Junior Track Championships’ omnium at Montichiari, Italy, in August is another who will head to Bathurst.
With organiser Glen Carter currently in talks with national coach Tim Decker, more big names could join that duo.
“Cam Scott is definitely a starter from the high performance unit, he will be coming back from Adelaide, plus we’ll have one more from that unit,” Carter said
“It will either be Kell O’Brien, a former junior world champion, or Leigh Howard, who is a multiple world champion.
“Leigh actually road on one of the road teams with Mark Renshaw, he rode with HTC.
“It is going to be massive … it’s awesome the support we get.”
The program will feature a full day of racing from juniors through to four grades of elite events. While it is yet to be confirmed if the New South Wales Women’s Madison Championships will be included as well given a scheduling clash, Bathurst will still be treated to quality competition.
It is not just the senior races which will see a host of talented cyclists in action, with Carter excited with the calibre of juniors who will compete as well.
“We’ve got Kurt Eather from Dubbo who is coming and he’s just won the national [under 17] road title and you’ve got Tyler Puzicha who is coming back from a broken leg and she broke two Australian records,” Carter said.
“Then you’ve got juniors from here like Eliza Bennett, Kalinda Robinson, Haylee Fuller from Dubbo just won two national titles – so the juniors will be full of that level.”
The Bathurst Track Open will be staged on October 28.
