Hewitt is a three-time winner of the annual feature, which returns to the program in 2017 after wet weather forced the cancellation of last year’s series.
He first tasted success in 2000 with Supa Nik, before picking up wins in 2008 (Snazzy Shannon) and 2011 (Bobbee Dee Dee).
On Sunday Hewitt will contest two of the 2,100 metres heats with the hopes of qualifying for the $30,000 Group 3 final on October 2.
Im With Lexy will go from barrier five in the opening heat, the four-year-old mare second-up after a spell of almost six months. She ran second in her return at Dubbo and will be fitter for that run.
Stablemate Mammals Magic has drawn barrier eight in a tougher second heat, but is a last start winner and has twice saluted over this distance.
