Some businesses within the CBD have created wonderful window displays, Kings Parade is looking tremendous in full bloom and work at Mount Panorama is underway preparing the circuit for the racing teams and motorsports fans who will visit the region.
In addition to the great race, there are plenty of off-track events to keep the whole family entertained.
On Saturday, October 7 there will be a street fair featuring a Disney activation zone with special guests Lightning McQueen and Mack the Transporter from the Disney-Pixar movie Cars.
Fans of the movie Cars can race and play their way through the Cars-themed entertainment which will be located in the Court House forecourt.
The fair will include attractions for all ages with street food, live music, markets and the ever-popular $2 rides. The street fair will run from 10am to 4pm in the Kings Parade precinct.

We have recently launched a new cycling map and guide highlighting the city’s cycle paths together with longer routes through the region.
NSW Roads and Maritime Services has contributed to the production of the cycling map and guide through its Active Transport grant.
The guide is a great pocket-sized resource ideal for both residents and visitors. The guides are available free of charge from the Bathurst Visitor Information Centre, library, local bike shops and council’s civic centre.
Council has also partnered with Boomerang Bikes to provide bike hire. The bike hire stations are located at the Aquatic Centre and the Bathurst Visitor Information Centre. Each station has six bikes, some with child seats and two children’s bikes. Helmets and locks are also available.

Police Remembrance Day a time to pause and reflect
WE will pause and reflect on the sacrifice of our fallen NSW police officers this Friday for National Police Remembrance Day.
This special day is held annually to remember the men and women who dedicated their lives to the safety of others. Our police officers go to work not knowing what they will confront in the line of duty, or whether they will return home safely.
On this day in particular, it is important that we acknowledge those officers who have lost their lives as a result of a policing career. But we must also pay respect to the men and women in blue who work tirelessly to keep us safe from harm every day.
If you see an officer out on the beat this week, please stop and thank them for the work they do. From me, a huge thank you to not only the police officers who make our towns and cities safer, but to their families who sometimes pay the ultimate sacrifice for the commitment these people give.
Grants offered
ORGANISATIONS working in the disability support sector are being urged to apply for new Business Acceleration grants being offered by the NSW Government.
The new $19 million Disability Sector Scale-Up (DSSU) program will help NSW businesses prepare for and make the most of the rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
The NDIS has the potential to double the size of the disability support sector in NSW from around $3.4 billion to $6.8 billion over the next two years. This creates huge and exciting opportunities for local businesses and other organisations working in the disability sector to scale-up and expand their offering.
Applications for the first tranches of small, medium and large (up to $2 million) Business Acceleration grants are now open. Visit www.tenders.nsw.gov.au
