That task is trying to raise almost $11,000 for the John Mclean Foundation.
While Roberts has been busy training for the gruelling race on October 14 – the 35th ironman event in his career – he has already made a great start to his fundraising attempt.
Roberts has raised $2,400 for the cause so far and is determined to reach his goal.
One of the biggest contributors to the cause so far has been ALLMAX Scaffolding who pitched in with their $500 donation.
The John Mclean Foundation is dedicated to helping improve the lives of wheelchair-bound children.
“I wish to dedicate my past efforts and upcoming challenge to raise funds for the John Maclean Foundation,” Roberts says on his donation page.
“The Hawaii Ironman is the toughest physical challenge I have ever faced and I don't expect it to be any easier this time around.
“However I get to return to my normal life after I finish - something that is not possible for a great number of kids who face enormous challenges as part of their everyday lives.
“I ask you to donate generously to help these kids. Please spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family.
“Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot.”
Roberts qualified for his seventh World Championships after placing second in the 55-59 years category in April’s Ironman African Championship in April.
