Dressed in black and white stripes, the business leaders were dragging a tin back and forth across the bars in the hopes of filling it with their bail money.
It was all in the name of a good cause: to help Bathurst PCYC raise money to improve its facilities.
Clinton Blanks from Reliance Bank was in the cell early on in the day and had already raised his $500 bail by 11.30am.
He stayed in the cell to raise a bit more for the PCYC.
“Jail time – everyone keeps saying it suits me and ‘Can we pay more money to keep him in?’,” he said.
PCYC manager David Hitchick said the fundraiser was moved from Easter to coincide with the Bathurst 1000 Super Wednesday festivities and tap into a new crowd.
“We usually do the shopping centre at Easter and we thought that has been done for a number of years so we would try something a little different," he said.
He said the aim was to make $5000, allowing the club to develop activity spaces to incorporate a functional fitness and obstacle course event training centre.
"Our kids are going to enjoy it and so are our parkour guys," he said.
