Due to the busyness, hotels in the city have been granted an extra two hours, between 10pm and midnight on Sunday, for additional trade.
Australian Hotels Association NSW director of liquor and policing John Green travelled to Bathurst recently, to ensure licensees had its plans in order.
“The majority of hoteliers have a wealth of experience when it comes to race week, so my visit was basically just to update them with the latest news and legislative issues,” he said.
Recently released figures from the Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR) point to strong work done by local licensees and police in the last decade.
“There’s no doubt the behaviour of patrons has improved significantly over the last decade,” Mr Green said.
“Data shows assaults in licensed premises have reduced by 63.8% since 2008.”
