The hornet performed an incredible, low-level acrobatic display before the Great Race began, as officials and drivers packed the starting grid.
Before the hornet, the Royal Australian Air Force’s aerobatic display team – the Roulettes – performed their astonishing acrobatic display.
The Roulettes flew together, six in total, in a triangular formation, circuiting around the starting grid.
Thankfully for fans, the Roulettes were not as noisy as the hornet.
