Vikki Holik-Blazley, who lives and creates her art at Mount Rankin, north-west of Bathurst, will be part of the XI FIP World Polo Championship Art Exhibition at the Sydney Polo Club, Richmond.
She will join 90 artists from across Australia for the exhibition, which will feature 152 artworks including 72 two-dimensional works, 35 small indoor sculptures and 45 large outdoor works.
Curated by Selina Hitches, the October 21 to 29 exhibition will award $14,000 in prizes - from a first prize of $7000 through to four highly commended awards of $500.
Ms Holik-Blazley, who was at Carcoar before she moved to the Bathurst district a couple of years ago, has had a number of high profile public commissions.
She has an equine bronze sculpture at the Crowne Plaza, Newcastle, an equine timber sculpture at Fairmont Resort, Leura and a concrete and marble sculpture at the Orange Botanical Gardens.
Her life-size bronze sculpture of Italian poet “Dante” Alighieri was commissioned for the Italian Forum in Leichhardt, Sydney in 1999.
“My love of horses has been a great influence for my last eight years of work,” she said.
Ms Holik-Blazley said she had worked with ceramics, clay and stone in the past, but what she enjoyed about working with timber and metal was that the materials were built up, rather than being taken away.
The exhibition at Richmond will run in conjunction with the World Polo Championship, which is set to bring a host of top international players to Sydney’s Hawkesbury region.
It will showcase the exquisite work of established and emerging Australian artists from across the nation and provide selected local and national Australian artists with an opportunity for significant exposure.
A variety of sculptural forms and two-dimensional works will be exhibited indoors and in a superb outdoor open-air gallery.
