CENTRAL West Bushwalking Club is preparing for a busy period of spring walks in the lead-up to Christmas.

The club provides a variety of walks and activities most weekends, according to spokesman Laurence Outim.
“Locations include the Blue Mountains, Snowy Mountains, Lithgow, Orange, Cowra, Mudgee and even a New Zealand trip is planned for 2018,” he said.
Trips vary in grades from 1-2 (easy) to 3 (moderate) to 4-6 (hard).

Upcoming trips
- October 21: Winburndale Nature Reserve (Grade 3). Located 25km east of Bathurst; distance up to 12km. Views west over the Bathurst Plains.
- October 29: Fortress Ridge Blue Mountains (Grade 3-4). Total distance 8-10km; walking to a great lookout into Blackwall Glen. Going downhill to a cave where Dr Eric Dark took his family in the 30s and 40s. Views into Grose Gorge.
- November 5: Hassans Walls (Grade 3). Visiting a great attraction at Lithgow. Includes some rough sections visiting some cave overhangs.
- November 11: Cottage Rock (Grade 2-3). Walking about 5km to Cottage Rock in the Kanangra-Boyd National Park. Great views towards the Kowmung Gorge.
- November 12: Boundary Reserve (Grade 1). An easy, fun family activity in Bathurst suitable for kids, grandkids and anyone else. Afternoon tea at the Vietnam Veterans Park.
- November 18: Walls Ledge (Grade 2-3): This will be a 7km track at Blackheath with views from cliffs, waterfalls and a pretty little canyon.
- November 25-26: Yerranderie Ghost Town. A weekend trip staying in lodges at Yerranderie, about 2.5 hours from Oberon. Expressions of interest are needed ASAP to arrange accommodation.
